Ergodic Theory, Fractals and Groups

Date:
Sun, 11/10/2015 to Thu, 15/10/2015
conference

ORGANIZERS:

Vitaly Bergelson, Ohio State University
Mike Hochman, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
Elon Lindenstrauss, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
Shahar Mozes, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
Yuval Peres, UC Berkeley
Tamar Ziegler, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem

The conference will celebrate 50 years of Ergodic Theory in Jerusalem, and will coincide with Professor Hillel Furstenberg’s 80th birthday.

The scientific program will consist of lectures by leading young researchers, reporting on the state of the research in a broad range of subjects, many of which have their origins in the Jerusalem school of Ergodic Theory. These topics include, among others, interactions of ergodic theory and number theory, group theory, probability, random walk theory, and fractal geometry.
