Date:
Sun, 14/12/2014 to Fri, 19/12/2014
conference

In honour of Eliyahu Rips

ORGANIZERS:

Zlil Sela (The Hebrew University of Jerusalem)
Michah Sageev (Technion)

The conference is centered around recent directions in combinatorial and geometric group theory and related areas. Special emphasis will be on surveys and future directions in connection with the work of Prof. Eliyahu Rips.

The topics to be covered include the mapping class group of a surface, the automorphism group of the free group, small cancellation groups and techniques and their application in rings, the dimension subgroups and their application in homotopy theory, finite and profinite groups, connections and applications in model theory (logic) and in low-dimensional topology, as well as applications of geometric group theory techniques in complex and Kahler geometry.
