Organized by Prof. Julia Rubanovich (The Hebrew University of Jerusalem) and Prof. Ludwig Paul (University of Hamburg), this pioneering conference is set to unveil the untold story of medieval Iranian Jewry in "Judæo-Persian and Persian Textual Landscapes: Towards an Intellectual History of Medieval Iranian Jewry."

Iran has been home to Jewish communities since the Babylonian exile around 586 BCE, yet the period following the Islamic conquest of Iran in the 7th century CE remains a mysterious and largely uncharted territory in the annals of intellectual, literary, and cultural history. While Irano-Talmudic scholarship has flourished in recent years, delving into the interactions between Jews and Zoroastrians prior to Islam's arrival, the subsequent era continues to languish in fragmentation within both Jewish and Iranian studies.

At this conference, participants will illuminate this fascinating period, unveiling the hidden treasures of medieval Iranian Jewish heritage.
