Reward and Decision Making in the Brain

Date:
Tue, 16/02/2010 to Fri, 19/02/2010
conference

ORGANIZERS:

Hagai Bergman, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
Daphna Joel, Tel Aviv University
Yael Niv, Princeton University

The five-day workshop will bring together researchers to discuss new advances in the understanding of reward processing and decision making in neural circuits, and to define the open questions and future directions in the field.

A fundamental question in neuroscience concerns the decision-making processes by which animals and humans select actions in the face of reward and punishment, and their neural realization. While reward processes have attracted researchers for at least a century, the last few years have seen a surge of renewed interest and a wealth of exciting developments in our understanding of how the brain brings about the complex and diverse phenomena that we collectively call Decision Making.

The conference is funded by The Batsheva de Rothschild Fund (The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities), The Institute for Advanced Studies (The Hebrew University), The Interdisciplinary Center for Neural Computation (The Hebrew University), Tel Aviv University, and The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
