Social Anxiety, Response to Social Stress: From Basic Research to Evidence-Based Interventions

Date:
Sun, 06/01/2013 to Thu, 10/01/2013
conference

ORGANIZERS:

Eva Gilboa Schechtman, Bar-Ilan University
Jonathan Huppert, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem

The conference is sponsored by the IIAS, ISF and the Gonda Multidisciplinary Brain Research Center at Bar-Ilan University.

The aim of the conference is to discuss the connection between basic research on social stress and the development of evidence-based applications of treatments. Social anxiety disorder, or social phobia, is one of the most prevalent psychiatric disorders. It has only been considered a diagnosis since 1980, and was first seen as a disorder that is difficult to treat. Progress has been made in the last two decades, but many believe that continued progress will be most likely to occur by translating basic findings into applied interventions.
