A workshop on “Non-ionizing radiation, what we know, what we need to know, and what should we do in the meantime” will be held at the IIAS between January 24 to 26, 2017.  A major presentation by Linda Birnbaum, the award-winning Director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences will discuss the National Toxicological Program’s recent major study of cancer induced by cell phone level radiation in rodents.   Fiorella Belpoggi, Research Director of the Ramazzini Institute will present preliminary findings from a large parallel study.  Sessions in the workshop will be devoted to identifying major data gaps and the challenges in evaluating the basic science of the biological effects of EMF/RF, the epidemiology of non-ionizing radiation including neuro-behavioral aspects, beneficial and therapeutic innovations in the use of EMF/RF, WiFi in schools and other indoor environments, “screen time”, and radiation hypersensitivity.  Small expert workgroups will be an essential part of the program that will propose research priorities.
