The Israel Institute for Advanced Studies (IIAS) invites graduate students and post-docs at Israeli research institutions, in the field of late-antique and early medieval history, to participate in a workshop with Prof. Walter Pohl from the University of Vienna, a leading member of the Vienna School of History.
Prof. Pohl will be a Guest of the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies in December 2025.
The Program
The workshop will take place at the IIAS on 11 December, 2025.
9:00-13:00 Seminar with graduate students and post-docs
13:00-14:00 Lunch at the IIAS
17:30-19:00 Public lecture by Prof. Pohl and a reception
Application Process
The application deadline is 20 November 2025.
The application form and all attached materials must be in English.
In addition to the candidate personal information, the applicant is requested to provide:
- A motivation statement (maximum 150 words)
- An updated CV (one page)
- Name of a potential referee who knows the candidate’s academic record
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Selected participants will be expected to take part in the planned activities and give a short presentation of their research (5 minutes) during the workshop.
Accommodation will be provided for participants for one night at a nearby hotel in a shared room.
