The School will focus on the formative periods of late antiquity and the Middle Ages, encompassing such diverse contexts as ritual, legal, theological, philosophical and mystical training, and the erotics and power of the master-student relationship.
How is knowledge transmitted between master and disciple? What can we learn from the Greek, Christian and Sufi traditions? What systems served the sages of the Talmud? What are the methods for transmitting knowledge in Confucianism, Shankara and the Kabbala?
