Alexander is a professor in the Department of German, Russian and East European Studies at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research interests are medieval and modern Judeo-Slavica; palaeoslavica and broader aspects of Russian and East European cultural history; historical-traditional and philological study of Jewish literature of the Hellenistic and Roman periods; and early Eastern European Jewish history.
