Batsheva Kerem is a full professor at the Department of Genetics, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. She was part of the team that cloned the gene responsible for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and established Israel's CF genetics research center. Her research focuses on two research areas. One is the molecular basis of CF caused by nonsense and splicing mutations. Recently, she founded SpliSense, a startup developing novel therapies for patients with these mutations.

In parallel, Prof. Kerem's group investigates the molecular basis of genomic instability in early cancer development, including the impact of cancer genes on the nucleotide pool and the role of genome 3D architecture in stability. She currently leads an NIH project on recurrent instability in cancer. Prof. Kerem has published over 145 papers, including in top-impact journals.
