Eran Segal is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics at the Weizmann Institute of Science. He received his PhD in Computer Science and Genetics in 2004 from Stanford University, and was a fellow at Rockefeller University before joining the Weizmann Institute in 2005. His research is focused on microbiome, nutrition, genetics, and gene regulation in health and disease. Segal's lab aims to develop personalized nutrition and personalized medicine using machine learning, computational biology, probabilistic modeling, and analysis of heterogeneous genomic and clinical data. Segal has published over 140 articles in scientific and medical journals, and was awarded the Overton Prize by the International Society for Computational Biology in 2007.
