Helen Creese is an Associate Professor in the School of Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Queensland. Helen teaches Indonesian language and studies. Her research interests are Old Javanese literature, especially kakawin poetry and its later developments in Balinese literary and religious traditions as well as Balinese history, and gender history. Her current research projects center on Balinese textual traditions, identity and media in contemporary Bali.
