István is a professor in the Department of Medieval Studies at Central European University, Budapest. His research interests are: late Antique and early Byzantine intellectual history; philosophy and theology in early Christianity; Syriac manuscripts and archival documents in India; the history of the Saint Thomas Christians in India.
