Prof. Itzhak Mizrahi is a Full Professor at the Department of Life Sciences at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. He is a member of the School of Sustainability and Climate Change and the director of the microbial ecogenomics laboratory, where he leads research on microbial ecosystems in the rumen and other gut environments.

Prof. Mizrahi is internationally recognized in the fields of rumen genomics and microbial ecology. He has been awarded prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Starting and Consolidator Grants, which have supported his ongoing research.

In 2025, he received the Bruno Award from the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies.
