Jan Christian Gertz is a professor of Old Testament/Hebrew Bible in the Faculty of Theology at Heidelberg University. His teaching and research interests encompass the history of the literature and religion of the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible (especially Pentateuch; Deuteronomy), primeval history in Genesis and its Ancient Near East contexts, and the history of the study of the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible.
