Maurice is a professor in the Centre d'Etudes Juives at EHESS. His research interests are: history of the Jews in medieval Spain and of the Sephardi communities in the early modern period; the Marranos; history of the spiritual-intellectual trends in medieval and early modern Jewish Jewry; and religion and modern nationalism.
