Michael is a professor in the Department of History at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research interests are: intellectual, religious and cultural history of the early modern period; the problem of secularization in the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries; history of universities and the history of education; science and religion in the early modern period; the critique of enthusiasm before the Enlightenment. Current project: changing attitudes towards original sin in the Protestant world in the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries.
