Ran is a professor in the Department of Evolution, Systematics and Ecology at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research interests are: movement ecology; patterns and mechanisms of organism movements; ecology and evolution of dispersal, and in particular, long-distance dispersal of seeds; plant population dynamics; animal foraging; and bird migration.
