Uri Alon is a professor in the Department of Molecular Cell Biology at the Weizmann Institute of Science. He received his PhD in Physics in 1996 from the Weizmann Institute and was a postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University before joining the Weizmann Institute as a faculty member. His research interests are: systems biology; experimental and theoretical study of protein networks; design principles of genetic circuits; physics of biological systems; and physics of human behavior: improvisation and joint creativity.

Prof. Alon has received numerous awards and fellowships, including the Radcliff Fellowship (2009), the Teva Founders Prize for Biomedical Research (2005) and the Overton Prize from the International Society for Computational Biology (2004).
